We strongly encourage all Cal poly students to be considerate neighbors. Nighttime noise is a leading cause of neighbor-to-neighbor conflicts in San Luis Obispo. We ask that all Cal Poly students reach out and get to know their neighbors. Great communication between neighbors can help avoid conflicts and build a happy and healthy community!

Cal Poly Noise Violation Response
At Cal Poly, we want to work with students who receive noise violations in the City of San Luis Obispo.
If a household receives a warning, also known as a DAC, or a first citation, the student who has been named on the report will receive a warning email from Cal Poly.
If that household receives a second citation, the student who has been named on that ticket will be required to meet with the Off-Campus Coordinator. We will also encourage them to bring their roommates.
If that household receives a third citation, the student who has been named on that ticket will be required to meet with the Director of the Office of Students Rights & Responsibilities.
It is also important to know that if a citation has been dismissed by the city, Cal Poly will no longer count it as a valid violation. It is the student's responsibility to provide evidence that the violation has been dismissed.
